- Amanda Hanna-McLeer wears many hats. She is a writer, director, animator, and educator. She is at work on The Luddite Club, a documentary about teens who are rejecting social media and smartphones to rediscover IRL connections. She went to, and later taught at, Edward R. Murrow High School, the birthplace of the Luddite Club. A scholarship student, she attended the Rhode Island School of Design, where she received her BFA in Film, Animation, and Video. She worked in post production on the critically acclaimed and Emmy winning FX show The Americans, Comedy Central’s Broad City, and HBO Max’s Search Party. Her original narrative film, Lucy(fer), was accepted into The Gotham’s Project Forum in 2019. Currently, Amanda works out of her Red Hook studio, editing The Luddite Club, freelancing and mentoring students in animation, video production and graphic design.
