- Artist Statement
- Aynsley Leonardis, a recent School of Visual Arts graduate, is a painter and multimedia artist with punk-rock sensibilities and a bad sense of humor. A lover of the lowbrow, Leonardis often employs a crude painting style, and their love for comics and pop art of the 60s shines through in their color sense and subject matter. The contents of their work are a reflection of the things they adore, and at times a vigil to infatuation itself. In both process and product they aim to defend, uplift, and glorify obsession, hysteria, love, and teenage girls.
