- My paintings create a haven of orchids and foliage as the antidote to our stress laden society. They are based on the manufactured, idealized nature of the botanic garden. But gestures and shapes of orchids can also suggest metaphorical narratives. I have recently begun to include figures in some of my paintings to comment on the glorious botanic environment, while the orchids seem to be commenting back through their gestures.
