Artist Statement: Previously I’d thought of my wall pieces, tables and sculptures as a physical expression of the demons that haunt our inner lives, in the spirit of the paintings of James Ensor. But my recent musings on companionship provide me with a new perspective. Perhaps I make them, as Samuel Beckett writes, “In another dark or in the same another devising it all for company.“ Devising them all for company. From this point of view, the scamps and scoundrels assembled in my studio embody all my friends: the homebound artists and writers, known and unknown, the traces of other unseen familiars.
