Artist Statement
A self-taught artist, I paint "en plein air" when the weather permits, and often from photos of places where I have actually been. Based in Brooklyn, I look for subjects in my “backyard.” My goal is to capture the spirit of a scene at a particular instance. Often, I am attracted to views without obvious aesthetic appeal, but where the commonplace seems to have a special patina whether in the gritty, industrial zone by the Gowanus Canal or in a historic brownstone residential neighborhood. Being fully aware and in the moment is an integral to my art-making process.
