Artist Statement
My practice explores how personal memories transform familiar architecture into structural abstraction. Rooted in my experience of physical displacement and identity navigation as an immigrant in the United States, I am drawn to ordinary urban spaces and unknown landscapes. By deconstructing and rebuilding architectural forms, I disrupt the boundary between pictorial representation and abstraction. Working with reclaimed wood, my process values imperfection and the passage of time. Through forced perspective and structural distortion, these sculptures and paintings function as personal relics of local places, revealing how human life can be both vulnerable and trivial, yet boundlessly magnificent.
