Artist Statement
My work explores subtle absurdities and imperfections inherent in our lives by drawing on memories, emotions, and observations associated with ordinary objects rooted in personal experiences such as couches, body parts, and old family photos. I invite viewers to question their perceptions and embrace the unexpected by zooming in and rearranging these objects. I create ambiguous forms that blur the line between representation and abstraction through washing, sanding, drawing, pouring, and repainting and irregularly sewing the canvas itself. These layers of ambiguity expose the instability, contradictions, and paradoxes inherent in humanity, prompting viewers to reflect on their own experiences.
