Artist Statement
Take What You Need is an exhibition that will center poetry, friendship and intimate communication, all while asking viewers to engage with the world in a new way. The project was born out of an epistolary pandemic friendship with artist Angbeen Saleem, all via text message. In our exchanges, we examined the ways that noticing the world IS poetry, and how anything can be a poem.
