Artist’s Profile – Arts Gowanus

Artist Statement: I began my love affair with ceramics 48 years ago the minute my hands touched clay. My work has been on display at the Brooklyn Museum, Armory Art Center, Delaware Valley Arts Alliance and at the Brooklyn Women’s Exchange. This summer a Raku wall hanging was selected to be in a juried art show, called “Smoke & Mirrors” in Sullivan County. I am equally comfortable, creating sculptures, decorative objects, as well as functional ceramics. I especially love the organic process of making raku pottery and many of the pieces on display are examples of Raku. You may find me collecting seaweed, feathers, moss and other organic artifacts that I use with saggar and horsehair pottery.
