Trained in the fine arts and landscape architecture, I am inspired by water movement, erosion, plant succession and other processes at play in the natural world. I paint to reveal the forms and landscapes that we may glimpse in a moment or in a longer view. Working primarily in oils, I paint both plein air and in my Brooklyn studio. All work is from direct observation or my own photography. I am keenly interested in the creative process and typically document a work at each stage beginning with an oil sketch on paper and continuing to the final canvas.
