Artist Statement: My memory is unreliable. What begins as an observation of place becomes a way of holding onto moments of beauty that I don’t want to forget, while also reflecting a lifelong sense of feeling unooted. In response, I wander and photograph, drawn to the places I have stood and moments experienced. The accumulation of these images becomes the DNA of my emotional and physical experience, and forms the foundation of my work. Eventually this documentation takes on new life as I reduce and redefine ordinary markers of existence and explore possibilities through various mediums and processes. My work is a partnership with what already exists, bringing the familiar back into view.
