Artist Statement: My name is Luisa Henao, I’m an artist and educator making works on paper. My paintings explore memory, identity, and place through layered washes of ink and gouache. I’m interested in portraying trivial moments I witness on a day-to-day basis of strangers, while mirroring my own memories. I’m currently working on a series about the separation of people or the moment of a goodbye through painting and printmaking. The topics I’m interested in are deeply connected to my experiences as an immigrant, and help me process the in-between spaces I occupy today.
