Artist Statement
Richard Goehl's oil paintings are NYC cityscapes that are grounded in photography but filtered through memory, moods and detailed manipulation. By changing elements like reflections, architectural details and the people who occupy those spaces, he creates scenes that are both recognizable and figments of his experience. This approach invites viewers to engage in a dialogue between reality and imagination. Come have a beer with us at HIdden Rivers, where you can explore the details of these paintings up close! Limited edition prints will also be for sale. Richard is a RISD graduate and lives just across from the Gowanus Canal in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.
