Artist Statement
Susan Homer has painted birds, flowers, and trees for more than twenty-five years. She is interested in the realm between the real and the folkloric, between what she sees in front of her and what she imagines. Through the process of painting, she conjures a timeless place where traces of actual things and events and her state of mind are revealed. Her paintings are straightforward in their execution and yet nonetheless romantic in their associations.
