My ongoing practice focuses on creating ecologically conscious artwork from post-consumer materials. However, this year I have balanced my environmental practice with the creation of a new body of work on paper. These monotypes are created with encaustic paint on a heated palette. They are each one-of-a-kind images, which embrace the chance and fluidity of encaustic paint, a variety of temperatures, and a range of papers. Creating encaustic monotypes has allowed me the opportunity to stand back and take periodic pauses from my more conceptual work. I hope the work will allow others to take a pause from their world and will bring lightness and beauty into these challenging times.
