Ariane Ahlmann’s work explores the dark side of human nature and the challenges that we face in the 21st century. Even though Ahlmann focuses on the universal and timeless aspects of human behavior, her paintings and sculptures are not detached from current urgent matters. Climate change, the abuse of power, and racism are recurrent themes of her art. In contrast to the dark subject, Ahlmann provides symbols of hope and positivity in her work. Influenced by Expressionism and Neo-Expressionism, the artist combines modern and contemporary concepts in her work.
