- Steve Ettlinger works primarily in Eastern White Cedar that he cuts himself on the Maine Coast. Inspired (obviously) by Brancusi, he starts with a chainsaw and finishes with extensive sanding. Most pieces are sanded so smooth that they invite, or even require, touching and caressing. He works both in Maine and in Brooklyn.
