Artist Statement: Adam Suerte is a multifaceted artist born and raised in South Brooklyn. He studied at Music and Art High School, The Art Students League and The Rhode Island School of Design. While studying Illustration, he found himself drawn to a variety of mediums. Painting, drawing, comic-making, printmaking and graphic design to name a few. In 1991 he founded the Urban Folk Art® Studios artist collective and in 2002 he co-founded Brooklyn Tattoo®, a full custom tattoo studio, both are still operating today. His cityscape paintings usually depict a scene that he has personally walked through repeatedly over a period of time. His illustration, graphic design, comic and tattoo work describe a more graphic view of urban icons (think lamp posts with sneakers hanging from them, fire hydrants, subway station entrances, water towers and such)... and then there are the ghosts
