Artist Statement: Chelsea's artwork dives into memories of grief, love, and self-discovery. Through dreamy color schemes and evocative collage cut-outs, I depict my memories not as they actually look but as they truly feel. These emotions take vivid form in my mind before they reach paper: I see the color of a feeling and the texture of the world around it. Pieces of that imagery are often sparked by a line in a song, a passage from a book, or a moment from recent travel. Jack paints animals in conflict, locked in the moment of a chase or a standoff, then veil them in layers of glassy texture. The surface holds the struggle at a distance, present but out of reach. It mirrors how we meet a changing world: through windows and screens, watching from the other side of the glass.
