Artist Statement: I want the images I make to feel like a revelation, showing me something I need to see at the time of their making. Although they answer an intuited and personal need, I also sense in them a social relevance, which I try to heighten. The stories the figures tell - for they are nearly always figures - are like metaphors of the inner life of our shared world. They’re often antic, angry, forlorn, and darkly humorous, and display varying degrees of distress. I ponder why I have needed to see such images: each subsequent work is answer to this question.
