Artist Statement: My textile paintings and sculptural installations intertwine storytelling with textile traditions and gendered histories. I layer pattern, imagery, and text on clear vinyl, stitched together with a barbed red line that functions as both seam and defiance. As a child, I often sat quietly knitting or embroidering, observing the dynamics between women and men, sensing my hands recorded what I could not yet say. That practice led me to center women’s voices and challenge structures that render them invisible. Working primarily in pinks and reds, I reference their overuse as symbols of imposed femininity. Text drawn from diaries, current events, and fairy tales emerges slowly, revealing anger and resistance beneath beauty, where the personal becomes political.
