Artist Statement: Acey’s work is a search for beauty and a response to nature. Although there are recognizable images that lend themselves to land and sea, the real essence lies in the symbolism of each work. The paintings, drawings, and prints are visual diaries documenting memories and personal events. She creates magical places, tempting us to enter these spaces. Each piece is an evolution of responses to events that the passage of time has imprinted in the mind’s eye. The artist speaks of her works as “quick glimpses or telescopic views of everyday life. The works are at once real and imaginative.” Acey‘s work explores several media including flashe, watercolor, pastel, collage and printmaking. Spontaneity and energy are always important elements.
