Jon Bunge

Artist Statement: I view trees with deep reverence, and am mindful that in this time of climate emergency, they are helping our planet enormously. In making sculpture with tree branches, I gain an appreciation of their forms, bark, internal composition and color. I am particularly interested in where the branches divide; the new growth suggests hope for the future. The shadows cast by the sculptures, as well as the movement that occurs when they are suspended, are also compelling to me. I hope my work directs the attention of viewers to the great beauty and majesty of nature.
