Judy Hoffman

Artist Statement: Judy Hoffman is a New York-based ceramic artist whose sculptural practice explores the shifting boundaries between the organic and the mechanical, nature and human intervention. Working primarily in clay, she combines forms inspired by natural specimens with elements that evoke industrial debris, creating fantastical landscapes shaped by growth, decay, and regeneration. Her process is intuitive and physical, involving repeated acts of building, breaking, and rejoining, with seams, tears, and visceral marks recording the evolution of each work. The resulting forms seem at once prehistoric and post-apocalyptic, suggesting unfamiliar ecosystems where nature and remnants of human activity have become intertwined.
