Artist Statement: I make paintings with hints of scribbled, organic forms inspired by graphic lines and vivid hues of graffiti and by urban plant life that pushes through sidewalk cracks— uninvited marks and untended growths etched into the city’s landscape, asserting presence through quiet persistence and vitality. In small sculptural works, I use leftover paint, tape, string, and other residues of the painting process to reveal decisions, revisions, and excesses behind the finished work. Giving these remnants a presence of their own highlights the importance of what remains: essential yet often unseen components that form the building blocks for more “finished” works.
