Artist Statement: Since my first portfolio of street photography (Tokyo—Inside&Out), I have explored a wide realm of photography: nature abstractions, conceptual typologies, stylized landscapes, formalist still life, and color documentary projects. While I've primarily worked alone, I have increasingly collaborated with other artists. I’MPOSSIBLE NEW YORKERS is the most ambitious of my ongoing collaborations with New York-based performance artist LuLu LoLo. She and I have worked on two other big projects, Nadar 2.0 (2009) and the Gestures Series (2019). My artistic practice is an ongoing exploration of the medium and history of photography, whether through lens-based tools, AI, video, sculpture and/or installation.
