Brooklyn Neighborhood Arts Studios / 540 President Street
From the colorful gate, walk down the downhill path and go through the metal gate. Continue down the long hallway until you see the Exit sign, where you’ll find two doors—one on the right and one on the left.
Go through the door on the right, then take the first hallway you come to. My studio is the third door on your right.

- Artist Statement
- The way I paint mirrors the act of retracing memory. The process of applying oil paint, only to wipe it away with solvent, resembles a tactile groping through imperfections of memory. Where pigments accumulate densely, forms become unrecognizable, while in other areas the raw texture of the fabric is left bare. This juxtaposition of presence and absence is where my psychological colorscapes become the landscape of my paintings. Warm tones capture the urgency of the present, and cool tones mirror the "Blue Hour,” the temporal threshold between day and night, connecting past memories with the spiritual realm. The draped fabrics, curtains, and veils in my work serve as protective barriers that shield me from the outside world, while creating an entrance into the unseen realms of memory and spirit. Natural motifs such as thorns, flowers, water, and celestial beings constantly shift with the cycles of life and death. Though delicate and easily damaged, these transient elements always carry their own dignity and grace. My work is inspired by myths of the afterlife from different cultures, including Korean shamanism, Dante’s Inferno, and Andean, Mayan, and Aztec mythologies. By bringing these spiritual worlds into art, my work becomes a space to heal past grief and find the meaning of life. Through my large scale paintings, I invite viewers into another world, creating a sanctuary where everyone can safely surrender into a vulnerable state.
