Duncan Alexander Fitch is an American multimedia artist specializing in photography but also works in ceramics, painting, drawing, and creative writing. He was born and raised in the Manhattan borough of New York City as an only child. Having been surrounded by family, friends, and family friends that are primarily associated with the artistic realm, this was where Duncan started to realize his creative potential. He began at the School of Visual Arts in New York for his first two years of undergraduate studies but eventually transferred to Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. While at Emily Carr, he participated in the Capture Photography Festival’s “Stranger Than Fiction” exhibition through a partnership between the photo organization and the university. Throughout his time in college, he has developed a comprehensive ideology and practice that prompts us to examine how art can be used to reflect different variations of thinking about and experiencing the world around us.
