- Willi Smith was a women's wear designer of the 80s, one of the thousands of creative people in NYC who succumbed to AIDS. His is a joyous legacy nonetheless, pointing the way to the wearable, interchangeable, carefree clothes we can't imagine ourselves to be without. My homage to his 1982 "Art as Damaged Goods" installation is meant to celebrate his ideas in art and design and to bend my own design towards the theoretical for Gowanus Open Studio 2021.
