Lee Towndrow

Artist Statement: Lee Towndrow’s multi-disciplinary work is part of an ongoing investigation into frameworks of understanding the world and experience. In this body of work he explores the intersection between documentary and the staged work. By using the black and white form of traditional photojournalism to document events which are largely staged or controlled, he creates a liminal space where our understanding of reportage and theater is called into question.
