Artist Statement: Vesna Bricelj work creating decorative surfaces for some of NY's great interior designers has led her to specialize in verre eglomise.An ancient technique of back painting and gilding on glass originating in ancient Egypt, revived during the French 18th Century and later a darling of Art Deco, it is seeing a contemporary revival. Bricelj has adapted the technique to create slick, hallucinatory personal images (some include her own photography). They naturally spill over onto paper as one of a kind mono prints.
